FOR THE LOVE OF BOOKS 📚
St Therese School is one of the 13 schools in NZ that were a part of this case study emphasising the importance of an effective school library.
A report was released in June 2022, created in collaboration between the Ministry and SLANZA Te Whare Puna Mātauranga a Kura, that highlights the positive impact a well-supported library can have for learners and the wider school community.
School librarians, principals and students from 13 schools across Aotearoa New Zealand were interviewed as part of this research study.
The report showed the following key outcomes of quality school libraries:
📚 Improved reading, writing and digital literacy
📚 Development of research skills, and non-academic skills (e.g. leadership skills)
📚 A sense of wellbeing and belonging amongst students.
